Spring Hike in Blanton Forest
KNLT will conduct a guided hike in Blanton Forest State Nature Preserve on Saturday, May 30, beginning at 10 a.m. Hikers will enjoy the Knobby Rock and Sand Cave Loops (considered strenuous). Merril Flanary, KNLT Forest Steward, will be the guide. The hike will last several hours and will include a stop for lunch. Long pants and hiking boots are recommended, and participants should bring a backpack with lunch and plenty of water.  Participants must pre-register for the hike by calling 1-859-986-0744 or by email at info@knlt.org. The hike is recommended for adults and children ages 10 and older in good physical condition. An extra guide will be available for those who only want to join the group for the slightly less strenuous Knobby Rock Loop. Directions to Blanton Forest State Nature Preserve and a trail map can be found on this website at under the Blanton Forest tab (http://www.knlt.org/blantonmap.htm). The preserve is also open 365 days a year for self-guided hikes.
